Discover Disney World, Florida!

Looking for an escape from the daily humdrum for your entire family? VaycayHero has great vacation rentals waiting for you near Disney World, the most visited vacation resort in the world! This dream-come-true family vacation destination welcomes more than 52 million visitors annually—and for very good reasons. Covering more than 27 thousand acres, Disney World offers four theme parks, two water parks, four golf courses, one camping resort, 27 themed resort hotels, and a shopping district.

Located at Bay Lake, Disney World is just 21 miles away from Orlando, FL. The history of Disney World as a vacation destination started off in 1959 as Walt Disney Productions’ top secret project. The cat was finally out of the bag in October 1965, when it was announced that they intended Disney World to be the greatest attraction in the history of Florida. Roy Disney dedicated this theme park to Walt Disney when it was inaugurated in 1971. Today this timeless wonder continues to mesmerize movie lovers and park hoppers—a dreamland for kids, and an enchanting once-in-a-lifetime experience for grown-ups too.

If you’re looking for fun, you’ll truly be spoiled for choice at Disney World. Attractions at Magic Kingdom, the first of the theme parks at Disney World, include Pirates of the Caribbean, featuring the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow, definitely one of the top draws. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the crown jewel of New Fantasyland, is also incredibly popular. And don’t miss Space Mountain, a dark rollercoaster through outer space. Splash Mountain, climaxing with a big drop into a briar patch, is pure thrill. Step back in time with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as it rides through the bleak landscape of the Old West. A ride on Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a must for the littler kids. Take the Jungle Cruise through the rivers of Adventureland, and encounter hippos, lions, and piranhas along the way. Don’t chicken out of encountering the 999 haunts of the Haunted Mansion. Why not hop into a flying ship and fly over London and Neverland with Peter Pan’s Flight! If you are a history buff, you’ll love the Hall of Presidents, which features animatronics of all United States Presidents. Those with a funny bone will appreciate the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, a show in which monsters tell jokes and interact with the guests. You should also check out the Festival of Fantasy Parade—the Maleficent, Brave, Tangled, and Peter Pan floats are the star attractions.

Moving on to the second theme park at Disney World—Epcot—The American Adventure, an animatronic stage show of key moments in American history, is an incredible experience. Sum of All Thrills is an exciting and fun attraction. Soarin’, a simulator ride over Yosemite and Disneyland, is an absolute must-do. If you have a strong stomach, you should definitely try out the simulator thrill-ride at Mission: Space. Spaceship Earth, depicting the evolution of how humans communicate, is another top draw. At Test Track, you can design a SimCar and then get into a test car to see how it compares to the prototype you designed. Your kids will love interacting with the characters of Finding Nemo at Turtle Talk with Crush, and at The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Also great for kids is the scavenger hunt at Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure. Impressions de France highlights the beauty and culture of France, and is a must-see. Also not to be missed is Reflections of China, a 360-degree film about China. Later on you can check out IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, a fabulous abstract fireworks show all about mankind – its history and potential future!

The third theme park at Disney World is Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and one of the top attractions here for the kids is Toy Story Mania, a 3D screen-based shooter game with Toy Story characters. A treat for the whole family is Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage, a Broadway-style stage show. Do not miss the thrills of Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, a free-fall ride set in the Twilight Zone. One Man’s Dream is a walk-through tribute to Walt Disney himself. The Star Wars fans will love Star Tours: The Adventures Continue—a simulator montage ride through various locations in the Star Wars universe—and the Jedi Training Academy. For the Indiana Jones fans, a must-watch is the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Every movie buff will love The Great Movie Ride, a guided ride through some of the highlights of the silver screen. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is another great attraction for the kids, while Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith is great for parents. Don’t miss the chance to enter Mickey Mouse’s dreams in Fantasmic.

The fourth theme park in Disney World is Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and one of the most popular attractions here is Expedition Everest, an Everest-themed roller coaster that gets you up close and personal with a yeti! Kilimanjaro Safaris, a safari ride that exposes you to a wide variety of animals in their natural environments, is another big draw. If you are up for a thrilling ride on a raft—and you don’t mind getting wet—then you definitely should take a spin on a raft through rainforests and ruins at Kali River Rapids. Your kids are sure to love the animatronic dinosaurs at Dinosaur, the acrobats and singers at Festival of the Lion King, and the puppets at Finding Nemo: The Musical. Flights of Wonder, a stunt show with exotic birds, and It’s Tough To Be A Bug, a 3D show with the cast of A Bug’s Life, are both educational and fun. Don’t miss going on the Maharajah Jungle Trek with the whole family—it will really make you feel like you’re explorers out on an exciting mission.

In addition to the four theme parks, Disney World has two water parks—Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon has a great water-coaster, called Crush ‘N’ Gusher, which features uphill climbs, steep drops, and sharp turns. Typhoon Lagoon also boasts of a play area for kids, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a snorkeling area with real sharks. The star attraction at Blizzard Beach is Teamboat Springs, the world’s longest family raft ride! Another top draw here is Summit Plummet, one of the fastest water slides in the world. A slightly less intense—but equally popular—body slide here is Slush Gusher. Your family can race each other at Snow Stormers or Toboggan Racers and find out who’s the fastest of them all!

Ever since its launch, Disney World has never stopped creating new rides, shows, and experiences. If you ever tire of all the attractions at the parks, Downtown Disney offers dance clubs, comedy clubs, and several dine-in theaters. How about cane-pole fishing at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort? The picturesque lakes and dense forest at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are also worth a visit.
